GeoGlobal Energy LLC (“GGE”) was created in July 2007 by the most experienced geothermal management team in the world. GGE was formed to meet the opportunity to grow a global geothermal generation company, to gather the premiere geotechnical skills that are critical to effective geothermal development, and to support that talent with senior leadership and corporate skills. In 2008 GGE established a corporate office in the Washington, DC area, and a technical office in Santa Rosa, CA. In addition, GGE has two international field offices via its subsidiaries in Santiago, Chile and Munich, Germany.
GGE's team has explored, developed, invested, and/or operated more than half of the worlds’ geothermal capacity; some of the largest projects have included The Geysers, Salton Sea, and Coso in California, Tiwi and MakBan in the Philippines and numerous large projects in New Zealand and Indonesia. GGE’s expertise covers all aspects of geothermal power including exploration, development and operations.
The team has end-to-end hands-on experience including: early phase resource identification that requires geological, geochemical, and geophysical expertise; developmental capabilities, such as production and injection well targeting, reservoir engineering, resource production facilities design, and power plant design and optimization; environmental permitting and community relations; project financing; PPA negotiations; construction management; startup/commissioning and operator training on into operations; and ongoing asset management.
GGE’s Managing Partners and staff have significant experience in developing and managing large geothermal portfolios. Leadership has managed the development and/or operations of over 5,000 megawatts (MW) of geothermal power, a level that very few other companies can match.
GGE brings together three talented Managing Partners, each with superior experience and competency in each of the fundamentally requisite business areas for a global geothermal company.
- Below Ground: GGE Managing Partner and Executive Vice President, Mr. Greg Raasch has reassembled many of the core members of Unocal’s resource development team from the 1980s and 1990s. This group led the most aggressive global geothermal development program in history. As a result, the GGE team is uniquely experienced and capable of managing the risk associated with greenfield development, particularly the resource capture and exploration phase. GGE also has significant technical data and knowledge on the most attractive physical resources for exploitation in key markets worldwide.
- Financial: GGE Managing Partner and President, Mr. Michael Van Vleck has built a financial and transactional team to take advantage of the worldwide opportunity. The team includes geothermal financial experts from Unocal, with whom Mr. Van Vleck worked in the 1990s. Other members include experienced private equity professionals who have worked with Mr. Van Vleck on other ventures.
- Project Development: GGE Managing Partner and Executive Vice President, Ms. Sarah Slusser has over 21 years of experience developing, financing and managing large-scale greenfield power plants in the US, the Caribbean and Latin America. She was a Senior Vice President of the AES Corporation before joining GGE in July 2009, having led investments of more than US$2 billion.
